In this 75-minute class, we’ll explore the transformative power of pranayama (breathwork or “conscious breathing” rooted in yogic wisdom) to self-regulate and balance the nervous system. We’ll begin with 15 minutes of gentle movement (asana) to open the chest, side body, and upper-mid back. After reviewing proper techniques, benefits, and contraindications, we’ll move into our pranayama practice. We’ll conclude with a grounding meditation and time for reflection. Beginners to yoga and breathwork are always welcome.
A note on Christina’s approach to breathwork - she teaches breathwork using a trauma-informed lens as part of a holistic yoga practice. If you are pregnant or have been diagnosed with a lung condition, please contact her before registering to discuss whether this offering is suitable for you.
